SUMMARY:Tucson Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Jonathan Horst: “Killing Exotic Invasive Species to Save Native Birds.” \nThe lives of birds and many other organisms are intricately intertwined with native plants for food and shelter. We’ll explore some of the specific deleterious impacts that non-native plants have on local birds—from wholesale landscape conversions as a result of inappropriate fires\, to energetic stresses that come from foraging on too-small seeds and too-few insects\, to the food-deserts of typical residential landscaping. Learn the direct and long-term impacts of saguaro-killing fires to Desert Martins\, Elf Owls\, and others animals.  The zoom link for the meeting will be sent to the eblast mailing list on Monday\, February 7\, 2022. The meeting will open at 6:45 pm to allow socializing before our speaker begins.  If you are not on the listserve\, write to nativeplantstucson@gmail.com to request the link.
