SUMMARY:Waterman Restoration Site Celebration
DESCRIPTION:The Arizona Native Plant Society and United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management cordially invite you to join us on Saturday\, October 22\, 8:30 a.m. at the Waterman Restoration Site\, located on the Ironwood Forest National Monument\, as we recognize 12 successful years of important restoration work and celebrate National Public Lands Day. \nThe celebration will include a short ceremony unveiling a new interpretive display showcasing the restoration work and its benefits to the Sonoran-Desert ecosystem. Following the ceremony\, attendees will tour the new interpretive display and demonstration garden. Lite refreshments will be available. \nGuest speakers will include Doug Ripley\, President of the Arizona Native Plant Society (AZNPS)\, AZNPS State Conservation Chairman John Scheuring and BLM Arizona State Director Raymond Suazo. Sandy Bahr\, Director of Sierra Club Arizona will serve as the keynote speaker. \nThis site is now a restored upland Saguaro-Palo Verde landscape with over 110 native plant species and fewer than 150 buffelgrass plants still emerging per year. \n  \nDirections to the site: Drive exactly 19 miles west of I-10 on Avra Valley Road. Turn left immediately after the Pioneer sign on your left. Drive one mile bearing left the whole way. \n  \n
