Amazing Plants of Grand Canyon and Efforts to Protect and Enhance Them

Melissa McMaster will share stories about restoration projects and discuss the
importance of keeping track of the plants of the Canyon, both invasive and native.
Melissa is a plant biologist who has been studying and working with plants in Grand
Canyon for 19 years. She worked as a biologist for the NPS for nine years, conducting
invasive plant removal, rare plant studies, and implementing riparian restoration along
the Colorado River.

Melissa has also conducted work in the Canyon to implement more restoration projects and target key
invasive plant species along the river corridor. She is enamored with the plants in the Canyon and their
beauty; their tenacity constantly amazes her.
