Description A lovely small bunchgrass which grows in a clump, and which can be combined with other native grass and wildflower species for a meadow effect. Like many grasses the fibrous root system is good for erosion control. This species gets a nice purple color to the leaves and inflorescence (flowering head) in the late summer and early fall. Spruce Top grama is only found in the U.S. in the sky island region of the southwest
