Description | The most striking feature of this plant is its bold, neat, red flowers in the springtime. Like other hedgehogs this plant will be found growing in branched clusters. Look for claret cup hedgehog on rocky outcroppings and canyon walls. This would be a good species for higher elevation gardeners looking for a cold tolerant Hedgehog. Consider mixing with spring wildflowers such as penstemon (Penstemon spp.), desert marigold (Baileya multiradiata), or Gooding's Verbena Glandularia gooddingii) on a well draining mound. |
