Description | This common plant of extreme southern Arizona becomes a lovely dense shrub which displays a profusion of pink-red blooms during the monsoon season. Despite having a limited range within Arizona (Pima and Santa Cruz counties) this shrub could be a potential landscaping plant for mid elevation (think grassland) gardens throughout the southern portion of the state. Blend with native grassland species such as bull grass (Muhlenbergia emersleyi), sideoats grama (Bouteloua curtipendula), and Catalina prairie clover (Dalea pulchra). |
